SCHELDE ENFORCER SERIES

ENFORCER: THE 4TH GENERATION OF SUCCESSFUL AMPHIBIOUS SUPPORT SHIPS
Since its inception, the ENFORCER Series of amphibious support ships has been highly successful. Historically, the RNLN LPD "Rotterdam", the first of the ENFORCER Series developed in close cooperation with the RNLN, laid the foundation for securing the contract for the
design of the 4 RN LSD(A) Bay Class vessels. Subsequently, the RNLN LPD "Johan de Witt" contract utilized the experience gained from previous generations.
Our advancements in modularity proved particular attractive, enabling the independent selection of modules reflecting the specific operational roles envisaged by the customer. In the process, unique configurations are achieved in combination with significant cost savings.

UNSURPASSED AMPHIBIOUS CAPABILITIES
The ability to transfer equipment and personnel quickly and safely from ship to shore in a range of weather conditions is the single most important capability demanded by today's diverse operations.
The ENFORCER Series is characterised by a stern dock, which creates a sheltered environment for the deployment of Landing Craft in adverse conditions up to and including Sea State 4. This feature provides for an unsurpassed operable weather envelope enabling operations at about 80% of the time world wide, where alternative concepts are capped at 30%.

SAFEGUARDING THE FUTURE: IMPLEMENTING LATEST TECHNOLOGY ON PROVEN SHIPS
The global theatre changes rapidly, with more emphasis on worldwide operations under a wide range of hostilities, for which the ENFORCER Series has specifically been designed. Tomorrow's demands on ships operating in changing environments are met by the culmination of latest technology and by drawing on our vast experience. For future constructions, the ENFORCER Series has been further improved, covering an even wider range of applications. The areas of improvement include: Signature reductions, Through Flight Deck Configurations, Wider range of propulsion options, Enhanced application flexibility.

PROPULSION & MANOEUVRING CONFIGURATIONS

The ENFORCER Series is equipped with diesel electric propulsion for reasons of arrangement flexibility, through life cost, low signatures, redundancy, reliability and low speed manoeuvrability in confined waters.
Additionally, Diesel-Direct propulsion may be combined with Azimuth thrusters and open propeller arrangements, when moderate speeds are required. Furthermore, the customer is free to select the appropriate funnel arrangement of his choice: far aft for reasons of IR reduction or conventional.

 BALANCING MILITARY AND COMMERCIAL STANDARDS
Royal Schelde has a vast experience in applying a unique combination of commercial and military standards and specifications, enabling customer desired military enhancements. These are generally achieved by selection of commercial equipment made suitable for naval  application by smart interface engineering. IMO/SOLAS certification and commercial classification notations are used as a standard.

COMMUNICATIONS AND COMBAT SUITE
The Concept of Operations and Range of Missions of the customer determines the Combat System configuration. Royal Schelde co-operates with all reputable combat system, weapon and communications suppliers and can configure, integrate and deliver on a turn-key basis the optimum combat system matching the ship's mission profile.

MAIN CONFIGURATION CHARACTERISTICS
The Enforcer Series has been developed in 3 basic sizes, notably set by the beam of the vessel. Selection of the aviation arrangement, a Through Flight Deck (LHD configuration) or Aft Flight Deck (LPD configuration), is largely dependent on customer preference and experience and is both offered in the ENFORCER Series.

ENFORCER MODULARITY
The configuration of your ENFORCER is developed in close coorporation following our unique modular design concept. The ENFORCER Series offer pre-designed customized options for dock, garage, flight deck and hangar area, accommodation and propulsion systems.

ENABLING A RANGE OF MISSIONS AND ROLES: CONFIGURATION TO CUSTOMER SELECTION
Selection of the most suitable platform configuration is done in close cooperation with the customer by analysis of his Concept Of Operations and functional requirements.

Example roles are:

  • Amphibious Support
